Osprey Modelling Manuals 6 : Airbrush Painting Techniques
A handsome, well-bound trade paperback lavishly bedecked with an array of many fine colour photographs designed to impart techniques of using this tool. All three types of airbrush are examined and explained in simple terms, cleaning and maintenance is looked at, and one section shows how to build a compressor in order to save on starting costs. Each chapter is mostly step-by-step pictures with some text. Methods of lightening and darkening, representing camouflage and weathering and mixing exactly the right colour are explained. It shows in depth the painting of four different miniatures - a model four-wheel drive, a World War II American DUKW, a German Focke-Wulf 190 and a human butterfly. However it would benefit more with the inclusion of detailed information on pressure settings, thinning paints, rendering the effects shown and troubleshooting. The Series Editor is Jerry Scutts.
