Osprey Production Line to Frontline 4 : Consolidated B-24 Liberator
The Liberator, commissioned to replace the B-17, was built in near record time. It was designed around the then-new long-span low-drag Davis wing. AAF production got into full swing with the advent of the B-24D, later superseded on all five production lines by the most successful B-24 of all time, the J model. When production ceased on 31 May 1945, the 18,475 Liberators had been made, making it the most produced American aircraft of WW2. This book features a selection of wartime black and white photos, as well as colour company advertisements not seen since the war. Text by Michael O'Leary.
