Osprey Warrior 98 : US Army Infantryman in Vietnam 1965-1973
This book of the US infantryman in Vietnam begins with the soldier's experiences at the Armed Forces Induction Center at Fort Polk, and his initial introduction to Vietnam's varied conditions of service. Using first hand accounts, a conscripted infantryman's harsh and brutal service in Vietnam is covered, featuring the day-to-day routine in the field, including search and destroy missions, a night ambush, rocket attacks, airborne engagements and the task of building bunkers. This book also covers the culture of the Vietnam infantrymen, from their vernacular to the prospect of returning home to an indifferent, if not hostile, homeland. Text by Gordon Rottman with illustrations by Kevin Lyles.
