This book is dedicated to the life of the common US soldier during World War I, and follows a Doughboy during the course of the war as well as touching on the experiences of those men who would have served in the Philippines or Mexico in the years leading up to the landings in France. Appearance, equipment and weaponry of the American soldier are discussed, as is occupational duty in Germany after the end of the war, and the experiences of those sent to Russia and Italy.
