Osprey Men-at-Arms 346 : The Portuguese Army of the Napoleonic Wars (2)
Rene Chartrand continues his account in this second book covering the organisation, uniforms and weapons of the Portuguese Army in Europe during the Napoleonic Wars with particular emphasis on the artillery, line infantry, specialist, the militia and the Ordonança. Based on Portuguese as well as newly discovered British documents, this study comprises the most extensive source yet published in English on the material culture of these forces between 1806 and 1815. There is provided in detail the descriptions of the service, battle record and uniform of each regular regiment in the Peninsular War from 1808 to 1814, including 4 regiments of Artillery, and 24 regiments of Infantry. This is accompanied by illustrations by Bill Younghusband.
